Charla is our CRAFT QUEEN and we are so inspired by all the crafts she brings to our meetings! Today we made Christmas trees using old pages of books, folded, then glued and of course...what is a project without glitter! Thank you Charla for another great Crafting season!
BUNCO days are always fun days especially when we get to give back to our community! Thank you for playing BUNCO with us and making your donation to FAM!
A few of you asked for the reading I shared today….Wanted: A Mother by Kimberly Garrow Here is the link and the article is found on page 7—you will need to copy it and paste it into your search engine. I will make copies and have some next week too! :o) http://www.mops.org/uploaded_documents/MomSense%20sample.pdf Thank you Shanna Cartmell for your very informational talk on Health and Nutrition! We love our time with Edie Gilligan! We always enjoy great ideas and the laughter! We feel very blessed to have had her AGAIN to talk about her take on the "Love Languages"! 1.Take the Love Language Test. Do you agree with your Love Language test result? 2. Can you see how knowing the love languages of your loved ones can help relationships? 3. Which love language do you have the hardest time with at this stage of life? 4. If you could ask your spouse just one favor, what would it be? Today Our Crafty Friend, Miss Charla, came for Craft day! We have 2-3 craft days each session! Such a fun day to have all tables mingle and get to know each other! Today we made these little snowmen seen in the picture above! We also had our FIRST Brave day! Each mom was able to name her fear or fears to begin to be BRAVE! 4 card boards were passed around for everyone to write down their fears! Fear of spiders and darkness to fears of failing as a wife or parent to being alone...we all have fears and we have similar fears, we are NOT alone. We can't be brave unless we overcome our fears and so it begins.... Oct. 9th Speaker Topic :My Friends Have Issues
Welcome to the 3rd MOPS meeting! Tonight we have our first Family Night out! Hope to see you there anytime between 5:30-7:30! Thank you Heather and Jenn for coordinating and organizing this night out for us to get to know each other's families! We also have Preschool Sunday where you can see your little preschoolers, who are enrolled in our Preschool, perform songs they have been practicing! Also, today is our Secret Pal gift day! Wow, did you see all those gifts! How exciting to spoil each other! Thank you Tina for coordinating this! Our on time Raffle winners today are Heather and Jenn! Happy Birthday to our Oct. Birthdays: Courtney and Jessie! Enjoy your Cake in a Cup all to yourself! Also, congrats to Katie who is pregnant with their second child! Another February due date for our MOPS group! Amanda Anderson is one of our favorite returning speakers! What a great topic to share with us at MOPS...Friendship! Where a lot of friendships are formed! Friendships are Risky but they are also where we find safety! Safe and sane friends are honest, willing to admit their own faults, are able to both give and take from the relationship and are interested in personal growth. To have "safe friends" we have to be safe friends! Above all, love each other deeply for love covers over a multitude of sins-1 Peter 4:8 Avoid competition and comparison. Instead see each other as teachers and encouragers. Sometimes our issues are not our personality flaws and fears, but our circumstances Pretending to have it all together makes others feel that they are falling apart A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need. Proverbs 17:17 Friendship is good for our health! Speaker:AmandaAnderson www.scrapsofsoul.blogspot.com September 25, 2014--In God we Trust? Are we BRAVE Enough? Welcome back to the second day of MOPS! We are still finishing up discussing our Theme verse and them from MOPS International today, as well as, celebrating birthdays and pregnancies, secret pals, and moms who were on time! Every morning we have an on time raffle, because we know as moms, just how hard it is to get OUT of the house, let alone anywhere "on-time"! Congrats Courtney, you are our on time winner! Do you have a Birthday in September? Well, Happy Birthday to YOU! Hope you enjoy your special day and your very own Cake in a Cup! Congrats to Inga and Melissa who are due in February and March! Thank you to Tina for handing out our Secret Pals! Looking forward to gifting our Secret Pals on Oct. 9th! Wow, Last week we had a great speaker! I am still talking about colors!!! You will see a variety of speakers here at MOPS. Some who will make you laugh and some who will make you cry. Some who will challenge you and some who will inspire you! Our theme verse comes from Isaiah 43:18-19 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and stream in the wasteland. Our Theme decor, that we chose, were birds, feathers and nests--A momma and her baby birds! When I read the following poem, I knew we had chosen the right theme decor of what symbolized bravery and courage as a mom. FEATHER, a symbol of courage, a feather enables flight Risking heights, a first flight requires bravery to jump from the nest. A bird will fail to experience all it was made for, if it fails to fly. {The same is true for us} May this year change your life. May you hear whispers of hope, stirring in your soul. May MOPS remind you to breathe in and breathe out, because we are all in this together. The first step may test our bravery, but courage is the key around our necks. Be you, Bravely Our Speaker, Michelle Sullivan was amazing! She has shown such bravery in her own life, with her children, especially her son, who had brain surgery! We were in awe, how she had such peace and thankfulness through her son's difficulties and all she had to endure. Quite the testimony, to the love God has for each of us, if we allow ourselves to trust Him. Let Go and Let GOD...Be a prayerful person, make time for God.... From Michelle Sullivan : Time with God Quiet Time Set aside 30 minutes in your day – preferably first thing in the morning … I know this can be tricky and will require sacrifice and discipline, but it will be sooo worth it! I promise! Have a “special spot” to go to … one with as little distraction as possible – with your Bible and maybe even a candle going J. Read a portion of your Bible … ask God to open your mind and help you understand what you are reading. Spend about 15 minutes reading. Read consecutively from day to day so you know where to go each day. Maybe start off with a Psalm or Proverb of the day and then start one of the books from the Old or New Testament. Finish up with a 15 minute time of prayer … perhaps start by praising and worshiping God … and then thanking Him for all He has done … and confessing too. Praying out loud is essential … it will keep you focused … even whispering if you have to so you don’t wake the kids! Pray for your witness, protection, your family, finances, friends’ needs, our government, spiritual leaders (pastor, table leader etc.), employment, evangelism, missions, etc…. Be accountable with someone to commit to spending daily time with God … have them ask you about your quiet time on a regular basis. They say it takes 20 days to form a habit … so one day at a time – make it a habit you can’t live without! Take your intimacy into your day … as you leave your quiet time continue dialoguing with God. Let your kids “catch you” sometimes in your quiet time … you will show them what that is and they can even begin to have a quiet time of their own. J Psalm 37:4 Looking forward to our next meeting Oct. 9th! What a great first day we had welcoming 29 women, to the Be You, Bravely 2014-2015 MOPS year! Our largest group since we started OSLC MOPS in 2010! We are looking forward to our 5th year at OSLC and we appreciate and thank our church, school and our Pastor, along with his wife, Kelly, for the continued support to keep MOPS going strong!
The first day is always filled with hugs and laughter and lots of catching up! It is also filled with lots of information about what MOPS is and what we do each Thursday morning! Here is a recap of our first day... Welcome to our Fifth year of MOPS here at Our Saviors! Such an honor to lead you all, as MOPS is very true and dear to my heart! Alongside me is Kelly Frohner…She is my rock and handles all the behind the scenes magic, registration, finances, MOPPETS, volunteers, you name it she does it! Thank you Kelly! My name is Julie and I have been leading this group since Trace, one of the OSLC MOPS founders, passed the torch onto me 3 years ago! Yes, it is true, I do not have a preschooler!!! I have a 2nd grader— I have been a part of MOPS since my 8 year old son was 3!!!! I also have a 22 year old daughter, so I guess I can be a Mentor Mom too! The relationships and support I have received from MOPS, KEEP me coming back for more! I feel so blessed to have a MOPS right here, at the very school, my son attends! There are so many reasons to join MOPS! We welcome you and we are thrilled you had and have the courage to join and be a part of this amazing group! You’ve come to the right place to find friendship, community, resources, and support for you as a woman and mother! I love that we have a place to come and hear that we aren’t alone, and that someone else understands how it is mothering little kids. This is a very special and difficult time of parenting, and mothers with young children are statistically the most lonely group. Here at MOPS we try as a whole to provide everything you need to be encouraged, equipped and developed as a mom. It is MOPS mission that every mother of a preschooler realizes her potential as a woman, mother, friend, and leader….in the name of Christ! God chose all of you to be your children’s mother and knows you are the best mom for your child and children! So have faith- BE BRAVE! GOD is in control and has a plan, and MOPS moms are all around here for YOU, to support and lend an ear, shed a tear, share a smile and or laugh, and offer a hand in this season of our life called MOTHERHOOD! We want to welcome our NEW MOPS moms this year ( so if you could just put your hand in the air) – Kelly B., Katie, Suzi, Julie W. who JUST had baby Scarlet! Some of you all have met her delivering food or special treats to here in August! We also want to welcome Kim S., who is attending a wedding in another state, so we will welcome her next week! We also have a NEW Mentor Mom Welcome Kim L.!! Nicole, Inga and Diana are kinda new, they were a part of our MOPS group a couple years ago and are now back! So what is this MOPS thing, what do we do, what should we do etc??????? When you come to MOPS please come as you are! There is no dress code! We understand. We know it takes a lot of time and effort to get the kids up, dressed, ready and everyone out the door and dropped off at MOPPETS and or school—but let me tell you the minute you walk in this room and you are greeted by all these wonderful women with smiles for miles and warm hugs AND not to mention PLENTY of coffee and yummy food for all-OH, it is worth it! On top of that you will get GREAT information from our speakers whether inspirational, educational, or spiritual-You will leave here loved, refueled and your spiritual cup filled. On your table you will find a welcome gift to you …When Being Brave Calls for First Aid…of course you need a first aid kit AND MOPS, so there is a magnet with the dates we meet for FALL attached to your kit! The folder you also have in front of you will help you become familiar with MOPS and all that IS MOPS. You can read this during your own time but lets just take a look at a few things— You have a leadership contact list in case you need anything. You also have the calendar rotation schedule---This tells you who is on duty for food and what is planned for the day. Some of you have notebooks—so if you are a table leader or Mentor mom your notebook is filled with a ton of info…also our food sign up list and prayer sheets. Table leaders and assistants, I included your DGL guide in your folder and notebook for you to look over this next week! You heard me use the words table leaders, Mentor moms, etc. Who are these wonderful women? They are part of our Leadership team to help support and encourage you as moms. I want to thank leadership for your commitment and contributions of time, energy, enthusiasm, support, and leadership; MOPS as a whole and MOPS here at OSLC would not be the wonderful outreach program it is, without each and every one of you! Hospitality Team helps get our room ready to enjoy our morning! Lilly and Diane have volunteered to help with hospitality There is always room on this team to help so if you are ever interested let me know. Thank you both for coming in early to set up and start that coffee! Our Table Leaders and Table Leader Assistants ---Our Table Leaders, also known as our Discussion Group Leaders are a key aspect to MOPS meetings-they facilitate our discussion time in small groups, provide a support system for the moms at their table and pray for their MOPS mommy friends. Thank you Holly and Courtney, Melissa F and Cathi, Inga and Melissa H and Tami and Nicole! Our Mentor Moms –Your Mentor moms are your go to gals! We look to our Mentor moms as a spiritual guide as well as the voice of experience. They nurture and encourage us all!!! Thank you ladies for volunteering to be our Mentor Moms- Kim will be with the Pink Heroic Hummingbirds AND the White Courageous Chickadees and Diane B will be with the Fearless Finches and Brave Blue Jays This year we are so blessed to have more volunteers and helpers to help me and all of us have a BRAVE fun year…they are- Jenn and Heather- Mom's Night out Mindy, Carly and Tiffany- Playdates Heather and Jessie - Speaker Greeters Tiffany and Jessie - Photographers Diana and Suzi-Expecting Mom gifts and Meal Planners Tina and Erin- Secret Mom Pal Last but not least.... Rule # 2 We don’t call roll and check attendance but we do ask you to make a commitment-Being here you will find is rewarding and refreshing. Rule#3 If you are not able to attend please let your Table Leaders know via email or text or phone call “especially” if you happen to be on the rotation for breakfast so we can make further arrangements Rule #4 Please be respectful to our speakers… let’s remember to silence our phones and refrain from texting. They speak for one hour and if there is an emergency the founders phone will ring or Lola or someone will come to the door and get you if they can’t get a hold of you.
